Homeowner-focused cleaning
Remove the build-up.
Respect the surface.
Outdoor paving gradually collects general dirt and organic growth. Pressure washing can make a striking difference, but useful work begins with identifying the surface—not choosing maximum pressure.
Age, joint condition, loose areas, drainage and the type of staining all affect the approach. We explain what the clean covers and flag marks or defects that may remain, rather than promising a perfect new finish.

Same drive.
A visible reset.
This matching comparison shows the surface before and after cleaning. Results vary with the paving, its condition and the type of staining, so we assess your own patio, path or driveway before agreeing the work.

Read the surface first.
A few checks make the work safer, set a realistic finish and avoid treating loose joints or damaged paving as if they were only dirty.
- 01
Surface and condition
Identify the paving or hard surface, then look for movement, cracks, flaking, repairs and weak areas that may restrict cleaning.
- 02
Joints and edges
Check pointing or jointing material, exposed edges and transitions into lawns, beds, walls and doors.
- 03
Stains and expectations
Separate general surface build-up from oil, rust, paint or absorbed marks that may not clean out completely.
- 04
Water and surroundings
Plan for drainage, splash and debris, and identify nearby items or openings that need moving or protecting.
Typical homeowner enquiries
The hard surfaces
around the garden.
Pressure washing can be quoted as its own visit or considered alongside other garden work. We focus on suitable domestic surfaces and agree the exact area before starting.
Assess the blocks or paving, joints and the particular staining before agreeing the scope and expected result.
Clean routes through the garden with attention to narrow access, bordering plants, steps and drainage.
What affects the price?
Area matters.
Condition matters more.
Measurements help, but two equal-sized patios can need different work. Heavy build-up, difficult edges, delicate areas and the route to the surface all affect the time and approach.
Tell us what you want cleaned and which marks concern you. If a quick photo is convenient it can help with the first look, but it is not a requirement for an enquiry.
- 01Size and layout
The total area, steps, corners, edges and separate sections to be cleaned.
- 02Surface and joints
The material, present condition and any loose or damaged areas.
- 03Type of build-up
General grime, organic growth and any particular stains you want assessed.
- 04Access and drainage
The route to the area, surrounding property and how water and debris can be managed.
Useful answers
Before you get in touch.
What outdoor surfaces do you pressure wash?
We quote for suitable domestic hard surfaces such as patios, paved driveways and garden paths. The material, condition, joints and drainage are considered before the work is agreed. A photo can help if you have one, but it is optional.
Will pressure washing remove every stain?
No single clean can be guaranteed to remove every mark. General grime and surface organic growth can respond well, but oil, rust, paint, deeply absorbed staining and existing discolouration may remain. Point out the marks that concern you before the quote so expectations can be realistic.
Can pressure washing damage paving?
Too much pressure or the wrong approach can affect weak surfaces, loose pointing and jointing material. That is why the surface and condition should be assessed before work starts. Existing damage may limit what can be safely cleaned.
Is re-sanding or re-pointing included?
Do not assume it is included. Cleaning can disturb loose jointing material, particularly between blocks or paving. Any follow-on work needs to be discussed and listed separately in the agreed scope.
How should I prepare the area?
Tell us about fragile pots, furniture, cables, outside sockets and items that cannot be moved. Clear loose belongings if agreed, keep access available and point out drainage issues or anything near the surface that could be affected by water and debris.
Can pressure washing be combined with garden work?
Yes, ask us to consider it alongside a garden clearance, hedge work or other Sharp Hedges service. The sequence matters: heavy garden work and waste removal should normally be planned so a newly cleaned surface is not immediately made dirty again.
