Safe Tree Removals

Tree removal isn’t always straightforward. The safest method depends on access, nearby targets (buildings, fences, roads, power/phone lines) and how the tree is leaning or weighted. If there’s any doubt, I dismantle it in sections and lower it down under control.

  • Clear drop zone and set-up

  • Sectional dismantling with rigging (when needed)

  • Protection for fences, sheds, greenhouses, walls and paving

  • Waste removed and the site left tidy

Felling vs sectional dismantling

If there’s clear space and a safe drop zone, straight felling is often the quickest option. If the tree is close to buildings, fences or tight access, sectional dismantling is safer because everything comes down in controlled pieces. I’ll explain the safest method on site and why.

  • Straight felling: quickest when there’s a safe drop zone.

  • Sectional dismantling: controlled lowering near buildings, fences and tight spaces.

  • The tree is dead, split, storm-damaged or unstable

  • It’s outgrown the space and is causing clearance issues

  • It’s damaging walls, paving, drains, fences or structures

  • You need more light or space for a garden project

  • The tree is causing ongoing risk over a drive, footpath or road

If you only need size control rather than removal, see Crown Reduction and Crown Lifting.

Some trees are protected by a TPO or sit in a conservation area, which may mean permission is needed before work starts. I’ll advise what applies and help you check with the local council. Work is planned to protect paths, fences, driveways and nearby structures, using safe cutting and lowering methods where required.
